Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz continues to make his way through the comeback trail from a torn ACL in relatively quick fashion. He’s already advanced to 7-on-7 drills this week, which is impressive given that he’s less than six months removed from suffering the injury.

And apparently, that injury hasn’t affected the speed of Wentz's ball in any way, shape or form, as far as Zach Ertz is concerned. Based on the offseason work they’ve done together, the Eagles tight end believes Wentz’s arm is as lively as ever-and possibly even more.

“The ball has the same zip, if not more,” Eagles tight end Zach Ertz said per Jeff McLane of the Philly Daily News. “It's definitely coming.” “The arm is alive. I'll tell you that much.”

While raw arm strength is vital for quarterbacks, the legs also play a vital part in generating power while throwing. So the fact that Wentz is still slinging balls pretty close to (or better than) how he did pre-injury-at least according to Ertz-is a good sign that his surgically-repaired knee is in decent shape following the injury. That should also be good news for Ertz, who was a big beneficiary of a lot of those zipped balls from Wentz last season.

Obviously, there are still other factors to consider to accurately gauge the status of Wentz’s knee apart from the zip of his ball. But the young quarterback still has time on his side in terms of returning to full strength. And if his progress to date is anything to go by, it might not be long until he is completely back to 100 percent capacity again.
