Popular Japanese role playing game series EarthBound comes to the Nintendo Switch through its online service.

In a Nintendo Direct live stream, it was announced that the adventures of both Ness and Ninten will be once again released, this time for the Nintendo Switch. Check out the trailer here:

EarthBound is the second game in the series, but the first game to be released outside of Japan, where it is known as MOTHER 2.  Beginnings is the first game, but was only officially made available to Western audiences on June 2016 when it was released for the Wii U, a whopping 26 years after the Japanese release.

EarthBound was not initially well received by players, but soon found itself a dedicated community. More eyes were turned toward the series after Ness, the main character of EarthBound, made his debut as a fighter in Super Smash Bros. There is a third game in the series, titled Mother 3, and it is currently unknown whether this will come to the Nintendo Switch as well.

Both EarthBound and EarthBound Beginnings are now available on the Nintendo Switch Online Service.
