Filmmaker Edgar Wright gave fans an iconic Shaun of the Dead movie in 2004. And with Cornetto trilogy, including Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz,' people are now asking for worlds longer than films.

Recent revelations indicate that Edgar Wright was approached for a ‘Shaun of the Dead' TV show. However, he opted to decline the offer.

Speaking on Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused podcast, Wright shared his reasons for rejecting the proposal. He also addressed the possibility of extending the story with original stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

“A long time ago, there was a thing that an American company wanted to do a TV series of ‘Shaun of the Dead' based on the film, and we were like ‘no,'” he explained. Wright and Pegg have ongoing discussions about potential projects. But they approach these opportunities with a sense of protection for the essence of their work.

The filmmaker also praised “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off” as a successful adaptation. Emphasizing its fidelity to the original artwork. He described it as a “perfect way of continuing” and highlighted the importance of creative control in such endeavors.

Now, for Wright, the potential return of Shaun of the Dead or other Cornetto films comes with a similar approach.

“Some things are still things that we're still talking about, but it's also being kind of protective of what it is.”

That is to ensure a balance between expansion and faithfulness to the source material. Creative control, he asserted, would be paramount in any future collaborative projects with Pegg.
