The 75th Primetime Emmys is starting the week right on Jan. 15. The event was originally scheduled for September last year as was Emmy tradition, but the ceremony was postponed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. Fox, the broadcasting network for this year's Emmys, rescheduled it for this month.

This is the first time since the 1950s that the Emmys are held in January. The shows nominated are those aired between June 1, 2022 to May 31, 2023. It's different from that of the Golden Globes which follow the calendar year — meaning the recently concluded awards consider the shows aired from Jan. 1, 2023 to Dec. 31, 2023.

Succession leads the nominations with 14 nominations and The White Lotus is a close second with 12. Beef has nine and Abbott Elementary has five. The gala is at the Peacock Theatre in LA and hosted by Anthony Anderson.

Succession and The Bear lead the winners tonight. Beef won the major categories for which it was nominated.

The LGBTQ+ organization GLAAD, received the 2024 Governor's Award. GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) was formed in 1985. It was originally founded in protest against how the gay and lesbians community were portrayed in the media and entertainment industries. It has since included the bisexual and transgender community in their media monitoring.
