A Lizzie McGuire remake was supposed to happen with Hilary Duff as the star and more. However, it never happened.

Disney+ canceled the series in 2020 before it ever made it onto the streaming service. And it was due to it being rather adult-oriented, Deadline reports.

New details emerge about Lizzie McGuire reboot that never saw the light of day

This was brought to light thanks to writer Jonathan Hurwitz, who wrote for the show. He discussed many details of what was to come in a TikTok video.

Apparently, the first episode featured Lizzie in the Big Apple, where she worked as an interior designer. Soon, though, she found out her boyfriend was cheating on her with her best friend, and it led to her moving back to her home in California.

It gets deeper than this, though.

Hurwitz said, “[In episode 2] Lizzie meets up with Gordo, who she's just kind of been in touch with via text over the years, occasionally. They meet up, and Gordo reveals that he is engaged to a woman, and she's pregnant, and they're really happy. So no, in this version, Lizzie and Gordo would not have ended up together. Episode 2 ends with Lizzie getting a text from Ethan Craft, and little animated Lizzie faints.”

From there, it turns pretty adult-themed.

He added, “Episode 3 wasn't filmed, but there was a script for it. Lizzie wakes up in Ethan's bed in his water polo t-shirt. Animated Lizzie pops up, and she has this little checklist, like to-do list, and Ethan is on the list. She checks it off, and I think she says something like, ‘Well, checked that box twice.'”

Of course, naturally, Lizzie McGuire IS an adult, so the theme and adult content should be perfectly normal and acceptable. However, it seems to have strayed past Disney+ guidelines, so it got the boot.
