The Atlanta Falcons are re-upping on coach Dan Quinn and general manager Tom Dimitroff, at least for 2020. Though the Falcons yielded poor results on the season, owner Arthur Blank saw bringing back the two as the logical conclusion.

According to William McFadden of the team's official website, Blank said: “the great coaches make adjustments.” He thinks Quinn will learn from the dismal season and will make the proper adjustments quicker in the future.

Quinn's Falcons notably got off to a 1-7 start on the season. Since then, they went 5-2, including an upset thriller over the San Francisco 49ers. Atlanta's positive trend has resulted mostly in part due to the coach's adjustments. He gave up his defensive playcalling to now-full-time defensive coordinator Raheem Morris. The Falcons saw better results.

I understand our fans’ disappointment and frustration because I’ve felt every bit of it as well. That said, our focus must be on giving our franchise the best opportunity to win next year and beyond. I have long believed that continuity in leadership is very important across all our businesses and the football team is no different in that regard,” Blank said in an official statement.

The Falcons brought in Quinn as their head coach in 2015, plucking him from his defensive coordinator job with the Seattle Seahawks. Since then, they have gone 42-37. In 2016, Quinn led the Falcons to a Super Bowl, only to blow a 25-point lead to the New England Patriots.

Though the Falcons will bring back Quinn in 2020, don't expect for him to avoid the hot seat. If next season turns out to be another disappointment, he can kiss his job away.
