Atlanta Falcons rookie running back Bijan Robinson was active for Sunday's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but barely played, due to what head coach Arthur Smith called a bad headache. But Smith's failure to inform the NFL and the masses about Robinson's illness until after the game started has many asking questions.

In fact, the NFL has reportedly contacted the Falcons with injury report compliance questions following the peculiar Robinson situation, league sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Basically, the league wants to know when the Falcons knew Robinson was sick- and if they knew before kickoff, they want to know why the star halfback wasn't listed on the injury report.

Schefter notes that this is standard practice for the NFL and that a fine could be possible if the league determines a rule was violated.

Questions are certainly warranted, given how peculiar this situation was.

What happened with Bijan Robinson?

Robinson was not listed on the injury report in any capacity and was slated to suit up for the Falcons Week 7 game against the Buccaneers, just like he would any other week.

Only, this wasn't any other week.

Robinson, to the bewilderment of his fantasy football managers and fans watching, did not touch the ball once on the Falcons' opening drive of the game, which saw them march 58 yards down the field for a touchdown. He didn't receive his first carry of the game until the last drive.

Some thought that Robinson had perhaps angered the coaching staff, while others were simply at a loss to explain the bizarre usage of the eighth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Why Bijan Robinson barely played for the Falcons

Robinson and Smith both addressed the situation on Monday, with the latter telling the media that his star running back “will be fine.”

Robinson explained that he started to “feel weird” and was suffering headaches on Saturday, leading to a restless night of sleep heading into Sunday's game.

The Falcons star said he took medicine in the hopes that he would feel better, but that he was still experiencing the headaches, which he said were never going to keep him from playing.

Schefter reports that the Falcons never believed Robinson was in danger of missing the contest, which is why he did not appear on the injury report.

Robinson, 21, has tallied 81 carries for 404 yards while hauling in 26 receptions for 189 yards and two receiving scores.
