Fans of the Atlanta Falcons must've bitten off their nails on Sunday night after escaping the New Orleans Saints via a two-point victory, 27-25. Star quarterback Matt Ryan, Cordarrelle Patterson, and Younghoe Koo made key plays in the clutch to help them improve to 4-4.

The Falcons were on a brink of another total meltdown before Ryan connected with Patterson for a 64-yard gain. Koo then secured the win with a 29-yard field goal as time expired, averting what would've been an embarrassing defeat after leading by as much as 18 points in the fourth quarter.

After the pulsating victory, Patterson couldn't help but fire a snarky joke (via ESPN).

“We just like to give our fans a heart attack, just keep them on their toes to make sure they're paying attention.”

Patterson, however, quickly turned serious after his witty retort, saying they were tested by the gritty Saints.

“We wanted to put them away early, but it's the Saints, they've got a great team over there. They fought till the end. We did a better job. We got the win, that's all that matters.”

Of course, the Falcons have become infamous for blowing huge leads. Who could forget their monumental collapse against the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl five years ago?

But on Sunday night, the Falcons made sure they'd go home with the win, with Patterson calling Ryan “Matty Ice” after throwing for 343 yards and two touchdowns and scoring on a run himself.
