When a person thinks about women's basketball, Caitlin Clark is probably the first name that comes to mind. The Indiana Fever rookie has been the center of attention in the WNBA lately, and she's even stirred up plenty of debates among famous personalities and fans alike.

These debates mainly focus on the amount of attention the WNBA receives because of Clark. They've been going on for quite some time now, and looking at all the discussions, there seems to be no end sign yet. So what does this year's number-one overall pick have to say about the topic?

“To be honest, I'm not really on social media, like I don't read that,” Clark said, when asked about the debates. “This is my job; my job is to compete and play basketball every single day. I think the more attention we can get on every team around this league, that's only gonna help it get better and better. My job is just to continue to show up and help this team get better.”

Considering how the debates have brought in all kinds of takes, it's no surprise that Clark doesn't want any part of it. After all, being the center of attention 24/7 can be tiresome, so shutting out all the noise is one way to avoid extra stress.

Despite the noise, Caitlin Clark still has plenty of supporters

Clark has received her fair share of slander lately. Besides the discussions about her recent WNBA averages, which aren't exactly similar to her college numbers, critics have made many other arguments to downplay the hype surrounding Clark.

Nevertheless, her supporters weren't having it. LeBron James was one of those who defended Clark, claiming that “a lot of great things” are going to happen to the WNBA because of her.

“The one thing that I love that she's bringing to her sport, more people want to watch,” James said, per ClutchPoints' Joey Mistretta. “More people want to tune in. Don't get it twisted, don't get it f**ked up. Caitlin Clark is the reason why a lot of great things are going to happen for the WNBA.”

Las Vegas Aces superstar A'ja Wilson was another big name who had Clark's back.

“She's learning and growing just like everyone else,” Wilson said, per ClutchPoints' Joshua Valdez. “People don't give her a chance; this is growth.”

Even Patrick Beverley gave Clark her flowers. During his podcast, the Milwaukee Bucks guard included Clark on his list of players who have significantly pushed the sport of basketball forward.

“What Caitlin Clark has done with female basketball, she's pushed the envelope,” Beverley said. “They're flying charter already. They're making it known, like, you've got this stardom coming in. You gotta take care of the WNBA.”

Love her or hate her, there's no denying it: Caitlin Clark is the biggest name in women's hoops right now.
