Amid all the criticisms and the incredible pressure that she carries on her shoulders, Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark continues to prove that she belongs in the WNBA. On Wednesday night, the former Iowa Hawkeyes superstar put on a show, as she played a huge role in the Fever beating the Washington Mystics at home to the tune of an 88-81 score.

Clark finished the contest with 18 points to go with 12 rebounds. With those numbers, she was able to reach a statistical territory not seen in the WNBA since 2007, according to StatMamba.

“Caitlin Clark is the first rookie guard to have multiple double-doubles in a season since 2007.”

Clark's other double-double game to date this season took place during a 78-73 win on the road against the Los Angeles Sparks back in May where she had 11 points and 10 rebounds while adding eight assists and four steals. Everyone knows Clark can get buckets, but her ability to create space for her teammates and find them for scoring opportunities are among the other abilities that make her so dangerous of an offensive weapon. Clark is also showing great effort on defense, as she is leading the Fever in steals and even has multiple multi-block games.

Producing great numbers and getting wins at the same time further underscores Clark's importance to the Fever, who have now improved to 6-10 on the season.

In addition to her double-digit scoring and rebounding production against the Mystics, Clark also dished out six dimes and racked up four steals while shooting 6/12 from the floor and going 2/6 from behind the arc in 27 minutes of impressive play. The top overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft appears to be adjusting just fine in the pros, generally speaking, and she's probably only barely scratching the surface of her full potential.

Caitlin Clark wasn't the only Fever who came up with a solid performance in the Mystics game.

Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston each had 22 points and combined for 11 rebounds. As a team, the Fever shot 50.8 percent from the field and went 8/23 from deep.

Now on a three-game win streak, Clark and the Fever will look to keep the good times going when they start a road trip on Friday versus the Atlanta Dream.

Thanks to her big game against the Mystics, Clark has become a hit again on social media, with fans praising her nonstop again.

“Rookie of the Year”

“I thought one WNBA player said that all Clark did was shoot threes and the league is so hard that Clark is struggling, so this can't be true because many of the other amazing superstars (can't remember any of their names rn) probably did this several times. Got to be wrong.”

“Should’ve had a triple double😭”

“Every other night she’s the First rookie to do something or since and she’s not even playing close to her best, after that 3 week Olympic break I would expect multiple 30 point games”

“This Young Lady has done a Excellent Job both on and off the court”
“Yeah and she's not ready to be on the Olympic team 🙄”

“I was told her only skill was shooting 3's. 18pts/12reb/6ast/4 steals. Is that good??????”

“Hatin on Caitlin getting harder and harder”

“But she’s not good enough for the Olympic team. Disgraceful.”

Lady Mamba!!!!
