Tennis icon Serena Williams knows what it's like to have tons of media attention as a young sports star, so she understands what Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark is going through amid the hype she's getting. Having said that, Williams has some advice for the rising hoops star as she navigates through the tricky situation of being a professional athlete and everything that comes with it.

Williams made her professional tennis debut at the age of 15 and went on to become one of the best, if not the GOAT of women's tennis in a career that spanned for nearly three decades. Williams is undoubtedly the most dominant female player in the history of the sport, as proven by her 23 Grand Slam women's singles titles, the most in the Open era and the second-most of all time. She has been under the spotlight since she was a teenager, and so she has seen how overwhelming all the attention can be.

With that being said, Williams shared that she likes what Clark is currently doing. The Fever rookie has not been active on social media, avoiding the unnecessary distractions as much as she can and keeping her head on the game and improving her play.

“I just love that she tries to stay grounded and that she says she doesn't look at her social. I get it. I don't either. And I think it's so important to just continue doing what she's doing. And no matter what other people do, if people are negative then it's because they can't do what you do basically,” Williams shared, via Associated Press.

“And hopefully she'll continue to do what she's doing.”

As Serena Williams highlighted, Clark seems to be handling the situation pretty well. It is crucial for her to really put her focus on the court rather than stuff off it, especially considering the pressure that's on her as the no. 1 pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft.

As many fans would know, Clark also has a target on her back being the most popular female hooper in the world today. Every other WNBA player wants to get the best of her, so she really has no time to engage on various social media discourse about her.

While Caitlin Clark has been silent on social media, though, she always speaks her mind in interviews with reporters when inquired about various issues. Most recently, the Fever star was asked about her name being used as a “weapon” in non-sports topics–with many so-called “fans” using her to push their agenda about racism and misogyny.

Clark expressed her disappointment about the issue, saying that it's unacceptable.

“People should not be using my name to push those agendas. It's disappointing. It's not acceptable. Treating every single woman in this league with the same amount of respect, I think it's just a basic human thing that everybody should do,” Clark shared, per USA Today.

Clark's popularity is only increasing day by day, with several media outlets covering her and fans getting more and more interested with everything that she does on and off the court. Hopefully, as Serena Williams noted, the youngster can keep doing what she has been doing and shut out all the noise no matter how loud they may be.
