France vs Denmark preview & predictions

It wasn't long ago that France was the clear-cut No. 1 ranked team in the world. That's since changed, though they're still considered among the best squads out there. FIFA ranks the French side as the No. 3 team in the world, trailing only Brazil and Belgium. Meanwhile, Denmark is ranked as the No. 11 team, coming in behind the Netherlands, just outside the top 10.

In terms of talent, France is the clear favorite here. The squad boasts both star power as well as depth, featuring a slew of the world's most esteemed player. Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema, two of the world's most renowned strikers, will look to make life difficult for Denmark's defense.

The French midfield consists of superstars such as Chelsea's N'Golo Kante, Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann, and the up-and-coming Aurelien Tchouameni. Their defense figures to feature of brothers Lucas and Theo Hernandez, as well as Manchester United star Raphael Varane, and PSG star Presnel Kimpembe. Tottenham star Hugo Lloris is expected to start in goal for the French team.

As for Denmark, they'll be led by captain Christian Eriksen, who just recently returned to the national team after his terrifying cardiac arrest during the Euros. With Eriksen back in a leadership role, he'll look to work with his midfield partners of Thomas Delaney and Tottenham's Pierre Emile Højbjerg in order to win the possession battle.

One of Kasper Dahlberg or Yussuf Poulsen will likely be starting at striker for the Danes, looking to get past the formidable French defense. Denmark is certainly the underdogs in this game, but they are an experienced group who made an impressive run in the Euros, and are certainly capable of staging a surprise upset.
