It's surprising to think that Michael Chandler has been in the UFC for less than a year. The former Bellator champion made his UFC debut at UFC 257 against Dan Hooker.

The bout was a very interesting one as Dan Hooker was seen as a long and tricky striker while Michael Chandler was seen as a wrestler with big power.

Ultimately Michael Chandler came out with the best game plan and he put it to good use all night. He used a left hook to the body all throughout the fight in order to get Dan Hooker to lower his hands in defense.

The move worked as Chandler landed the left hook to the body multiple times. Eventually, Hooker started to protect that area and expect the punch.

This led to an opening to be created as Dan Hooker stopped protecting his face. Michael Chandler eventually uncorked a huge leaping left hook to the chin and dropped Hooker instantly.

Chandler followed up with big ground and pound and forced the referee to step in and call the fight. His UFC debut was a success and he had a big highlight victory over a ranked contender.

The official result was TKO in the second round. Michael Chandler went on to challenge Charles Oliveria for the vacant lightweight title.

Although he had a big first round, Oliveira eventually found success in the second round and earned the KO victory in the second round. Now Chandler is set to face Justin Gaethje at UFC 268.
