Microsoft Flight Simulator came out on Xbox Series X last Tuesday. However, it's not just the console players who are getting a boost from developer Asobo Studio. With this boost, you can double the framerate of your game, depending on your gaming rig's specs.

The developers released a big update alongside the release of the Xbox Series X version. This was Microsoft Flight Simulator‘s fifth big update for the game on PC since its release. With this update, you can double the FPS of Microsoft Flight Simulator. Of course, this depends on the specs of the PC you use. Some users report getting double, with some reporting 25% better FPS.

The Verge went ahead and benchmarked Microsoft Flight Simulator on PC to see just how drastic the improvements are. For their Intel Core i9-11900K processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti video card, their reported an increase of 45FPS to 68FPS at 1440p. This was in a section of the game flying over Seattle, a very busy city with lots of buildings.

Asobo Studio also demonstrated the improvements using older hardware. With an Intel Core i7-9700K and RTX 2060 Super, their FPS jumped from 30 to 60 FPS, with significant drops in CPU and memory utilization. Overall, The Verge reports, the notoriously demanding game now plays much smoother. Expect that you will be experiencing fewer frame drops than before. So, if you want Microsoft Flight Simulator to have better FPS when you play it, just be sure to get the latest update.
