Halloween may be far out, but the Two Point Campus School Spirits DLC brings the spooks to the campus along with all-new challenges and mechanics!

Two Point Campus School Spirits

School Spirits is Two Point Campus' second DLC since its release in December 2022. It follows the out-of-this-world Space Academy DLC which was made available earlier this year.

Two Point Campus School Spirits brings us to Lifeless Estate, and with the new Campus Location comes new Courses, Classrooms, Student Archetypes, and a whole load of new items.

In the Developer Interview gives us more background information about this DLC, as well as some interesting insights about the ideas behind is from Design Director Ben Huskins and Designer Harry Puttock.

“We wanted to add another departure from the norm, if you can in fact call it that, of Two Point County academia. We thought that something supernatural, or mythical in some way, would be a welcome addition to our collection of courses and settings,” said Puttock. “Of course, there was also the incentive to bring back ghosts from Two Point Hospital. They were a big part of that game, and we've had a lot of fun ideas on how to incorporate them into campus. Janitors were trained to deal with ghosts in Hospital, and we thought it would be fun to explore the origins of ghost capture training, and how people might learn to do that in an academic setting.”

Lifeless Estate

The lawn may be lackluster, and the surfaces strangely gooey, but all of the problems come back to the ghosts. You could say that possession is nine tenths of its flaws. There, I've said it. The last heir to the estate, Lady Lifeless had hoped to spend her after-years catching up with her reading and floating tastefully around the garden. Instead, her rest is routinely ruined by rude spirits with even worse table-manners.

Tackle the paranormal pest problem, learn what it means to be dead and help the estate rest, peacefully, once again.

To access the new location, you need to achieve at least 1 Star on the first 3 levels of Noblestead. You can also jump straight into it through the Challenge Mode, if you really wanted to.

This area is quite cold, to make sure to keep an eye out for the Temperature in your campus. Get your Radiators and Small Radiators ready as you'll be using a lot of them throughout the construction and expansion of your campus. The new Haunting mechanic also couses some rooms to be haunted and will afflic negative satuses onto your students. The tutorial will walk you through hiring a Janitor with the Ghost Capture skill, but make sure you have enough of them for when you get more rooms.

The Hauntings will also need the new Ectovat item. Don't fret though, as this item is not only functional for the mechanic but also satisfies some student needs, so you get double value for your Kudosh.

The Lifeless Estate adds two new Courses in the game: Paranormal Detection and School Spirits.

Haunted Rooms

Janitors with the relevant skill will deal with Haunted Rooms eventually, but manually assigning the task is faster and will cause less problems. The telltale sign that a room is haunted is when objects are being moved by an unssen force or the lights are dimming, as well as a strange fog inside the room. Click on the room and assign a Janitor as soon as you can once you spot these signs.

After the de-haunting, the room may spawn ghosts that your Janitors will need to capture. There will most likely be multiple on them and they are quite slippery, so make sure you have enough Janitors with Ghost Caputre on the job!

New Course: Paranormal Detection

There was debate in the County for a number of years, surrounding the existence of ghosts. Thanks to science, that debate is now long finished: ghosts are a real and genuine nuisance. You can't wipe away the regrets and resentment of vengeful spirits, but now you can bottle them up… a bit like they did.

Paranormal Detection are taken by your human students, and they are also the ones who participate in the Expulsion Ceremonies (explained below!) They are a great investment in the early game, especially as acquiring 1 star on the Lifeless Estate requires you to beat a certain beefy ghost.

Improve your Paranormal Detection facilities and take good care of your students to make sure you breeze through the eearly days of your Campus!

New Course: School Spirits

Being dead isn't as easy as everyone makes it seem. It's hard to rest in peace with a life & death's worth of questions on your mind. “Where am I?”, “Why did I say that one thing when I was 24?”, “Did I leave the oven on?” etc. Fortunately, you can learn anything in Two Point County, even how to be dead.

School Spirits is the second new Course, and enrols some of your ex-human students. They also come with their own unique rooms, and the fact that these students look drastically different from the human ones make organizing your campus to properly separate and optimize the paths for all of your students easier.

Expulsion Ceremonies

In this new area, you unlock new Plots through a newly-introduced mechanic unique to the Lifeless Estate – Expulsion Ceremonies. During each of these Ceremonies, you and your students will be pit against various boss ghosts. The Paranormal Detection students will be participating in the Expulsion Ceremonies, so improving their Academic Results or simply taking on more students in this course may help you if you're struggling to deal enough damage to beat the ghost.

Each of these ghosts also has a weakness, which will allow your students to deal double damage to them to deplete their HP faster. Their HP totals and their weaknesses can be checked by clicking on the plot of land they occupy. In a way, this feels like the 50-man MMO raids of olde.

Be careful though, as each Ceremony takes up one in-game month and is a considerable chunk of your school year. This means your students won't be taking classes, taking advice, or doing other actions during this month. If they fail the Ceremony, you can re-attempt it, but the lost month cannot be taken back. Upon successfully completing the raid, the new plot of land is yours to expand your Campus on!

Design Director Ben Huskins chipped in with his own tips for the new mechanic. “When you set up an Expulsion Ceremony, it will pull pretty much all of your Paranormal Detection students over to the plot; it's a mass event! To start with, you'll only have about ten students, but you can imagine what the Ceremony could entail later in the level.

Your students deal damage to the Henchmen, so the more students you have, the more damage they can do, and also, the higher the (academic) level of students, the more damage, alongside your damage bonuses. Also, it's worth thinking about when during the academic year you decide the Expulsion Ceremony will happen. When thinking about scheduling it, you might consider things like waiting until later in the year, so you have time to improve your student's grades, or whether to wait until the next academic year, so more students enrol. There's quite a step up in the health of the Henchmen you find possessing a plot, so watch out.”

These ghosts and spirits also have abilities which will afflict students with different negative effects. Make sure you have a Medical Office and Pastoral Support to be well-prepared for any afflictions your students may receive.
