It's been many years since Ubisoft has released any details on their tactical pirate action game, Skull, and Bones, as the development for this title has had quite a rocky history. Recently revealed to be in development hell for eight years, and undergoing several revisions, it seems that they are finally ready to put a portion of the game into the hands of gamers.
As detailed in a news update over at the official Skull and Bones website, Ubisoft has revealed the Skull and Bones Insider Program, where the developers will be carefully selecting user applications to test an early version of the game. But this will not be a typical game preview test, where users are playing a near completed version of a game. solely acting as a glorified demo. Rather, the Insider Program will be a true and traditional beta test, as player feedback will be completely mandatory in order to participate.
Article Continues BelowThe developers of Skull and Bones will be very picky when it comes to their applicant choices, as they will be looking for players that have had previous experience as a beta tester, as well as applicants who have plenty of free time on their hands, so users who are looking to take a sneak peek better be prepared to report on any bugs and issues that they may come across. However, they may make an exception for those that serious fans of the game. Above all else: applicants will be asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement, so do not expect to see any videos or live streams of the game's current development status.
The exact release date for Skull and Bones is still a mystery, but if Ubisoft's previous remarks made for the game back in August 2021 still holds true, they are still looking to release the game before the end of 2022. Until then, players can sign up for the Insider Program by registering their Ubisoft Connect PC account.
