Console players can now become their very own vampire lord as V Rising releases on the PS5 this June. However, this game will have an isolated ecosystem, as there will be no crossplay between PS5 and PC players.

V Rising PS5 Release Date: June 11, 2024

V Rising has a PS5 release date of June 11, 2024. It was previously released out of Early Access into version 1.0 on Steam on May 8, 2024. V Rising was developed by Stunlocked Studios and published by Level Infinite on PC and Stunlock Studios AB for the PS5.

V Rising Story

You play as a newly awakened vampire, arising from centuries of slumber. Hungry and thirsty for blood, you have to struggle against the world around you, filled with holy soldiers and beasts and men alike. In a weakened state because of your long fast, you are reliant on your weapons and armor to defeat those who stand against you.

Once you've sated your primal thirst for blood, you then set your sights on your thirst for power and glory. Throughout the game, you are to build your vampiric empire and turn yourself into a vampire lord of your own estate, building your vampire castle in V Rising and showing off the extent of your power.

The game takes place in the continent of Vardoran, a vast world filled with villages, settlements, and minions of the eminent Dracula. Players can work together or go solo and accumulate power until they can challenge the Lord of Darkness and his children of the night.

V Rising Gameplay

V Rising is a fixed camera perspective top-down action role-playing game set in an open world with multiplayer elements. The world is divided into 5 different biomes, each with its own perils and bounties. As a vampire lord, you increase your power by drinking the blood of NPCs as they approach death's door. You also acquire new weapons and armor that will help you beat stronger opponents.

The game features strong boss fights that are set at a certain level, meant to be milestone challenges for players to conquer. As the player gains new abilities and acquires stronger equipment, they become more capable of felling stronger opponents and thus earning the boons that come with defeating them.

NPC's blood falls into different categories and different kinds of blood will give players different kinds of abilities. Hence, the kind of NPCs the player drinks blood from will influence the vampiric powers they manifest in combat.

Apart from NPCs, V Rising also features PVP gameplay, allowing players to fight against other vampires in PVP enabled servers.

The game features a day-night cycle. When the player character is exposed to sunlight, they take damage over time until they go under a shade or find a refuge. The player is also affected by garlic and will take damage over time, progressively taking more damage the longer they are exposed to garlic.

Finally, players and their friends can work together to build a vampire castle. The vampire castle can go for up to six floors, and the castle is fully customizable. Players can build one vampire castle per biome, with a total of five vampire castles per server. Vampire castles also require maintenance and will decay when falling into disuse.

As already mentioned at the start of this article, there is no crossplay between PC and PS5 players, and it doesn't look like this feature is currently in the devs' roadmap.
