It appears that XDefiant will introduce a new Capture the Flag mode come the launch of Season 1. Ubisoft's free-to-play first-person shooter has been a hit among shooting game fans since it released. As of the moment, players are actively playing the preseason version of the game. While the developers technically fully launched the game on May 21, 2024, there are some limitations to it.
For instance, when XDefiant first launched, practice mode wasn't available yet. Then players technically can't play for ranks yet as the developers only released a trial version of Ranked mode. With that in mind, this only made fans hungry for more content. Apparently, Ubisoft is listening to its player base and plans to bring more content to the game when the first Season officially commences.
Dataminer Rogue TX recently leaked details about Capture the Flag coming to Season 1. The idea of this mode coming to the game is an appropriate addition. First-person shooters like Call of Duty and Overwatch also have the same game mode. Considering how XDefiant takes inspiration from these games, the addition of this mode will be nothing short of fitting.
However, readers should take this information with a grain of salt. Ubisoft didn't make any official announcements regarding the new mode coming to the game. Until the developers make it official, these are all speculations for now.
How does Capture the Flag mode fit into XDefiant?
Capture the Flag is a staple game mode often seen in first-person shooters. Two teams are typically pitted against each other in an attempt to grab each other's flags. The idea is for one team to capture a flag and then defend it like their lives depended on it.
Article Continues BelowGiven how XDefiant is a goal-oriented game, the mode fits right in. As of the preseason, the game features five game modes. These are namely Domination, Escort, Hot Shot, Occupy, and Zone Control. What all these game modes have in common, except for Escort and Zone Control, is that each team needs to accumulate a certain amount of points to win the game.
If Capture the Flag were to enter the game, it'll likely follow a similar format to the other existing modes. We're predicting that each team will need to capture a flag and defend it for as long as they can. The longer they defend the flag, the more points they accumulate. Then once a team hits a specific target number, they win the game.
Otherwise, the developers could implement the other way the mode is played. Another way of playing Capture the Flag is by grabbing a flag and then taking it back to base to score a point. The team with the most points when the time expires wins the game. Either that or there'll still be a set number to hit to come out victorious.
Whatever the case may be, it'll be refreshing to have a new game mode in XDefiant. This is to keep the game fresh and prevent it from becoming stale. Plus given how it'll be the launch of the game's first season, it's only fitting to see the developers go out with a bang. While maintaining a game's consistency is always key in live service games, having a strong start is a great way to set the tone for the player base.
