New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman is seen as out of touch by some with technology, but he still thought the NFL draft went off without a hitch. Gettleman knows the chatter about him, but he did everything in his power to prepare. He set up a mock draft before the event to see how the process worked.

He also had a Giants IT person with him the entire weekend in case something did go wrong. Gettleman described the process to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler:

“I've never let the ancillary [stuff] get in the way … What this [draft] has taught is to have reinforcement. Stay in your process and work through it … We did what we do.”

Gettleman was also talked about a lot during the draft for wearing a mask inside his own house. He explained that since the IT guy was also inside the house, he was taking all extra precautions:

“Well, I have a young IT fellow over here with me … And we're social distancing. Part of it is the mask. I'm fine.”

Gettleman was treated for lymphoma two years ago, so taking every extra precaution was even more important. The Giants hope they got better with their draft, and if they didn't, who knows if he will oversee another draft class next year. And if the 2021 NFL Draft needs to be run virtually, now Gettleman has a better idea of what to expect.

The Giants used the No. 4 overall pick on Andrew Thomas, who they hope will shore up an offensive line that had plenty of leaks last season.
