The New York Giants have taken a few major steps toward reshaping the coaching staff that included the hiring of Dave Gettleman as the team's next general manager.

However, there has remained questions about the long-term future of quarterback Eli Manning. It appears that much of that may have been resolved with Gettleman revealing to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post that he and Manning recently had an encouraging sitdown together.

“Yes, it was a great meeting,’’ Gettleman told The Post on Thursday. “Eli, obviously on this team, there’s only three guys who are still here from when I left. Eli, Zak DeOssie and JPP [Jason Pierre-Paul].’’

These comments certainly give off the vibe that Manning will continue to occupy the starting quarterback role for the Giants in the 2018 campaign. This comes a few weeks after Gettleman had stated that the 37-year-old still has a grip hold over the starting job.

Manning currently has two more years oft on his four-year, $84 million deal with New York. He has also voiced his desire to remain with the team, which the support for that route appears to be growing increasingly stronger.

Despite that being the case, the Giants are the position to possibly snag their quarterback of the future with the second overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. There will be a plethora of promising talent available such as Josh Rosen, Sam Darnold, Josh Allen, and Baker Mayfield.
The selection of a quarterback at that high of a pick will push forward the narrative that Manning is on his way out, but he is in the back end of his career. This makes it quite reasonable for the organization to have an eventual succession plan in place when his time in New York comes to a close. At this point, it is getting more clear that Manning will be under center for the Giants in his 15th season.
