The New York Giants currently own the No. 2 pick in the draft, which puts them in prime position to take one of the top quarterback prospects in the class. As a result, they are going to be taking a closer look at each of the four top quarterback prospects – Josh Allen, Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, and Josh Rosen – over the coming days, according to Pro Football Talk’s Josh Alper.

Giants general manager Dave Gettleman has not tipped his hand as to what he will do with that No. 2 pick. They could use the pick to get Eli Manning’s eventual successor at the quarterback position. However, they could also trade down and/or select defensive end Bradley Chubb to ostensibly replace the recently traded Jason Pierre-Paul.

A recent report came out that NFL executives and scouts believe the Giants will pick Sam Darnold at No. 2 if the Browns pass on him and take Josh Allen No. 1. Darnold appears to have the ability and the mindset to handle the pressure of playing in New York, and the team will have one more chance to further scrutinize if that truly is the case.

Whichever quarterback the Giants take, if they do go that direction in the draft, will likely face a similar situation to the Browns in terms of having to sit for at least a year behind a veteran quarterback. However, that could turn out to be a blessing in disguise as it’ll better prepare them for the unique pressures of the Big Apple.
