New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr is undergoing further evaluation on his quad coach Pat Shurmur told the media via Tom Rock of Newsday. Beckham was at the Hosptial for Special Surgery in Manhattan after not being able to be a full participant yet this week at practice.
“We’re just getting it checked out,” Pat Shurmur said. “It doesn’t mean anything.”
This has been an odd injury that popped up last week but was actually not expected to make him miss anytime. Last week he practiced on Wednesday and Thursday before being limited on Friday. He wasn't on the injury report though because all signs pointed to him playing. Saturday the team came out and announced that he would be missing the game and now there hasn't been any more clarity on how serious it is.
Beckham Jr was listed as limited in practice on Wednesday but according to Shurmur he actually didn't practice at all.
“Actually he didn’t practice [Wednesday],” Shurmur clarified on Thursday. “He went out there and stretched and moved around a little bit. After a little bit of individual [drills] he went off to the side. He didn’t really do much. But by rules, and we try to be very transparent, because he did a little of that we put him as limited.”
Shurmur also said that he doesn't expect him to practice on Thursday. It's unclear if he will be able to go on Sunday but all signs seem to point to him not being able to play.
