During this past week, New York Giants rookie running back Saquon Barkley suffered a minor setback with what's been classified as a mild hamstring strain in training camp.
Since then, the Giants have operated quite cautiously with Barkley with eyes toward having him on the field for the season opener. According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN, the 21-year-old hs voiced that his injury was just a “tweak” that he believes he could play through if there was a playoff game on Thursday night instead of preseason action.

There is obviously no real concern about the entire situation from Barkley given his type response. The fact that he has been able to participate in some light jogging just a few days after suffering the injury also shows that it isn't a serious injury rather something that he needs to slowly work his way back in order to avoid any possible setbacks from occurring in the next couple of weeks.
This has more than certainly put him out of action for Week 2 preseason action while it could potentially also keep him out of the fold for the last two games prior to Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Giants are hoping that Barkley can quickly step in to be the clear-cut primary running back that can add another dimension to the offense behind his unique ability as a dual-threat option out of the backfield.
Barkley had shown some promise in his brief time on the field for the preseason opener last week against the Cleveland Browns that saw him put together an impressive 39-yard run. It was a play that showed both his vision and patience along with his athletic ability to create a big play. This may have been a small sample, but it does give the Giants plenty of excitement for whta could lie ahead.
