Terrell Owens did not hold back his feelings about Eli Manning. When asked about the New York Giants quarterback, the Hall of Fame wideout was firmly on the side of benching Manning, who he believes has been holding Odell Beckham Jr. back this season.

“Odell can't perform because the quarterback is not performing. So, they should basically replace the quarterback,” Owens tells TMZ Sports.

“I mean, if it was anybody else, any other quarterback, he would have already been replaced. So, at this point, give someone else an opportunity.”

Owens doesn’t care about the Giants offensive line’s struggles as a viable excuse for Eli’s poor play. He believes that the “special” quarterbacks overcome poor O-line play and that Eli, whose skills are clearly eroding, isn't one of them.

Owens also took it another step further and dismissed the notion that Eli has gained “legendary status” by virtue of him winning two championships.

“He's won a couple of Super Bowls, but I wouldn't put him in the legendary status. I wouldn't put him in that legend status as of yet … no disrespect.”

Owens isn’t exactly going out on a limb with these takes, which a good number of people also share. Apart from the popular belief that it’s finally time for the Giants to bench Manning, there’s also a strong contingent that thinks Eli was never quite among the elite QBs in the league despite his two rings.

But while Owens is likely right that the Giants finally need to move on from Manning and go in a different direction at quarterback, it still remains to be seen whether the Giants will do so anytime soon.
