The New York Giants need a win over the Dallas Cowboys to give themselves a chance to win the NFC East and Sterling Shepard is doing his part in making that happen. After scoring the first touchdown of the game, Shepard hauled in a 10-yard touchdown to give the Giants a 13-3 lead in the second quarter.

Shepard excels at running out-routes and the Giants gave him a chance to do just that inside the red zone. Whenever Daniel Jones saw Shepard wide open on the left side of the field, he delivered a pass to his No. 1 option to give him his second touchdown of the first half.

On New York's first drive of the game, they were able to methodically move the ball down the field with ease against the Cowboys. Then, to give them their first score of the game, they ran an end-around play to give Shepard a rushing touchdown.

For the Giants to win the NFC East, they need a win over the Cowboys on Sunday and a loss by the Washington Football Team. Washington takes on the Philadelphia Eagles in the final game of Week 17 on Sunday Night Football.

Prior to the final week of the season, Shepard has had somewhat of a quiet season due to an assortment of injuries. Coming into Sunday's game, Shepard had 58 receptions for 544 yards and two touchdowns, including a season-high 77 receiving yards in Week 16 versus the Baltimore Ravens.

Regardless of whether or not the Giants make the playoffs, it's evident that Shepard is doing everything he can to give New York a chance to win the division.

If the Giants do win the division, they would host the fifth-seeded Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Wild Card Game on Saturday, Jan. 9 or Sunday, Jan. 10, provided that the Bucs hold off the Atlanta Falcons in Week 17. The Bucs lead the Falcons 23-10 on a day made for scoreboard watching.
