The Green Bay Packers won the NFC North for the first time since 2016 and the expectations are high that they can compete for a Super Bowl next year. The Packers have 21 expiring contracts heading into the season that the team needs to decide what to do with. The team could look a lot different next season if guys like Bryan Bulaga and Tramon Williams are gone.

The Packers are projected to have under $30 million in cap space, according to spotrac.com. That might seem like a large number, but that is below the projected leave average of $46 million.

If the team is looking to add more cap space to sign free agents or lock up players to long-term extensions, players could be cut for the savings. Jimmy Graham is probably the number one candidate to be cut, but most believe that will happen, so it really isn't all that shocking.

Graham is set to be the highest-paid tight end in 2020, but the lack of production probably doesn't make it worth it. If the Packers cut or trade Graham, they will save $8 million in cap space and only have $3.6 million in dead cap space for the 2020 season. Outside of Graham, who is one surprising cut the team could make? Let's break it down.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling

Marquez Valdes-Scantling started eight of the team's first nine games and is a fan favorite, but the team could find an upgrade this offseason.

Allen Lazard turned into everything the Packers were hoping Valdes-Scantling would be, and now the team could move on from him. After Week 8, Valdes-Scantling only caught five passes for 36 yards.

Outside of the Lazard and Davante Adams, the Packers' wide receiving corps struggled, so it's even more concerning that Marquez Valdes-Scantling couldn't have a bigger role.

He has two years left on his contract, but if the team were to cut him there would be less than $110,000 in dead cap space. Cutting him would have nothing to do with cap space, rather using his roster spot on someone different.

The Packers lost Equanimeous St. Brown back in the preseason, but the expectations are high that he can be a difference-maker for the offense.

The Packers know they probably need to go out and get a wide receiver this offseason and they would be smart to draft at least one. Cutting Valdes-Scantling would open up a roster spot, and that seems like the best option for the team.
