The Memphis Grizzlies took care of business on Monday night as they blew out the Golden State Warriors, 123-95. Both teams were missing some of their stars in this one, which meant that other players on the squad had to step in for their respective sides.

For Warriors veteran Andre Iguodala, it was a chance to rekindle an old flame against his former team. There's no love lost between Iguodala and his ex-Grizzlies teammates and after the game, Dillon Brooks had a special message for the former All-Star:

“We all had a vision, he didn’t,” Brooks said. “… sent him back to the Warriors, he can stay over there.”

For those that require context, Iguodala joined the Grizzlies in 2019 after he was traded by the Warriors. Iggy never had any interest in playing for Memphis and he made this abundantly clear from the get-go. True enough, he never suited up for the Grizzlies. After a lengthy stand-off that took several months, Iguodala saw himself traded again. This time, he was part of a three-team deal that saw the former Finals MVP take his talents to South Beach to join the Miami Heat.

Unsurprisingly, Iguodala's unwillingness to play did not sit well with his ex-Grizzlies teammate. At that time, he wanted to play for a team that had championship aspirations. To be fair, the Heat were indeed a title contender, but at that point in time, the Grizzlies simply were not. Nevertheless, his former Memphis teammates felt a bit insulted Iguodala's actions and it is clear that they still hold a grudge to this day.

Fast forward three years later and the Grizzlies are now one of the top contenders for this year's title. For his part, Brooks just had to make sure to remind everyone about Iguodala's disrespectful act several years back.

Right now, the Grizzlies and the Warriors sit at second and third in the West, respectively. A meeting in the latter part of the playoffs could be inevitable and this is a very intriguing storyline that we should all keep an eye on if these two teams actually face off in the postseason.
