Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant used a GIF of himself to react to Miami Heat rookie Kendrick Nunn declaring himself as Rookie of the Year.

You have to appreciate the confidence which Nunn has, but Morant was on his way to winning Rookie of the Year before the 2019-20 season was suspended due to COVID-19.

Ja was averaging 17.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 6.9 assists for the Grizzlies while shooting 49.1 percent from the field, 36.7 percent from beyond the arc and 77.0 percent from the free-throw line. He had the Grizzlies in the 8th spot in the rugged Western Conference, which says a lot since most pundits thought Memphis would be at the bottom of the standings before the campaign started.

Nunn was putting up 15.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists for the Heat prior to play getting suspended. He was having a tremendous season down in Miami, but since the Chicago native plays with two All-Stars in Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, he's not receiving the type of defensive attention Morant has been getting.

Morant averaged 24.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 10.0 assists for Murray State last season. He's made the transition from college to the pros look seamless. The Grizzlies have an incredibly bright future with Morant and big man Jaren Jackson Jr. leading the way.

It’s going to be fun to see how good Morant is in a couple of years for the Grizzlies as he continues to develop his game and body.
