Restricted free agent forward JaMychal Green is finalizing terms for a two-year, $17 million-plus deal with the Memphis Grizzlies, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical.

Both sides had been at a standstill all summer long, as Green refused to opt into a $2.8 million final year offer.

Green and Memphis will avoid an Oct. 1 deadline of his qualifying offer, positioning himself to return as an unrestricted free agent in the 2019 offseason, time in which the market for bigs should go back to normal.

The 6-foot-9 Alabama forward has been one of David Fizdale's favorite players, notably inserted into the starting lineup last season, relegating now-King Zach Randolph to the bench.

Green went undrafted in the 2012 NBA Draft and split his time between playing professionally in France and making only $800 per week as a player in the D-League, now making north of $8 million per year with his new deal.

Green posted a mere 8.9 points and 7.1 rebounds in 77 starts for the team last season, averages that paled in comparison to Randolph's per-minute production on the court.

Having secured his short-term future with the team, he's expected to resume his duties as the starting power forward of the Grizzlies.
