The Memphis Grizzlies have officially waived Dion Waiters; however, he'll receive his full salary for this season and for the next one.

Waiters has had a rough season this year dealing with injuries and suspensions. In November, Waiters suffered a panic attack after consuming a THC-infused edible on the team plane. The Miami Heat then suspended him for 10 games due to “conduct detrimental to the team.”

In December, Waiters was caught faking sick to celebrate his 28th birthday. Therefore, the Heat decided to suspend him six games for “failure to adhere to team policies”.

The eight-year veteran has appeared in just three games this season, averaging 9.3 points and 3.7 rebounds in 14 minutes. He shot 38.5 percent from the field and 47.1 percent from 3-point range. However, the Heat ultimately decided to trade him as part of the three-team deal that sent Andre Iguodala from the Grizzlies to Miami.

It's unclear if any team will be interested in picking up Waiters this season. Nonetheless, he's only 28 years old and still has plenty of talent in him. He has also proven to be a consistent scorer in his still young career.

On a positive note, Dion Waiters will receive the full remainder of his salary for the 2019-20 campaign. He'll also earn $12.6 million next season even if he doesn't play.

The Grizzlies are currently 34-17 and are surprisingly in the eighth seed in the Western Conference. They've played phenomenal this season as they're seeking to make the playoffs for the first time in three years.
