Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks appeared to be on their way to an easy victory against the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday. With 11:29 remaining in the third quarter, they were up by 24 points as their Texas-based rivals struggled to make their shots.

In the end, however, the score was 126-118 … with the Hawks on the losing end.

The Hawks had more players (7) scoring in double figures than the Spurs (5), but it was only Dejounte Murray who breached the 20-point mark with 22. In contrast, San Antonio had Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson dropping 29 points apiece.

San Antonio used a huge 39-20 third quarter to cut the lead, and Atlanta just collapsed come the final quarter as they made only 15 points in the period to close the game. Young was non-impactful in the showdown, as he finished with nine points on 4-of-15 shooting overall–including 1-of-4 from deep.

Naturally, Hawks fans were in shock and disbelief over the sudden turnaround. Atlanta was supposed to win that battle with a tanking team, but instead, they got on the wrong end of a massive comeback. Several Atlanta faithful also couldn't hold back their frustration as they blasted the team for the horrible showing.

“We just lost when leading by 23. TO THE F**KING SAN ANTONIO SPURS. I cant take this s**t anymore oh my f**king god,” Twitter user HawksMuse exclaimed in disappointment. It added, “The Atlanta Hawks scored a season high 83 1st Half Points today! Also… The Atlanta Hawks scored a season worst 35 2nd Half Points today! Being a Hawks fan is fun!”

“Hawks get embarrassed but the Spurs. Now 4-6 under Snyder. Don’t think coaching was the only problem,” SportsTalkATL added.

As for Spurs fans, they are clearly ecstatic over the win. Here are more reactions to the Hawks' brutal defeat:
