Having attended both Prairie View A&M University and Texas Southern University, Megan Thee Stallion definitely knows a thing or two about majorette dancing, especially in the SWAC. Her experiences at these HBCUs have undeniably shaped her dynamic stage performances.
Before earning her Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration from Texas Southern University, Megan attended Prairie View A&M University. It was here that she honed her skills both as a rapper and a dancer, performing as a Panther Doll.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Megan shared her educational journey, saying, “I thought I wanted to be a nurse, and then I found myself at school and I was like, okay, definitely don’t want to be a nurse. I didn’t tell my parents I switched my major and then I started really rapping. I left Prairie View and I came home. I got a job, but I was still going to community colleges. Finally, I was like you know what? I need to go back on campus. So then that’s when I wound up at Texas Southern University.”

Megan is big on her HBCU advocacy. In Sepember, she partnered with the Frito Lay brand “Flaimin' Hot” to create a scholarship for students at Texas Southern. The campaign launched an exclusive clothing line that featured Flamin' Hot University merchandise created by streetwear designer Melody Ehsani that can be purchased with the proceeds received going towards a new scholarship fund of up to $150,000 for Texas Southern University students. The goal of the scholarship was to help students ease their student loan burdens.
In November, she returned to the HBCU to surprise the students recipients of the Flamin' Hot scholarship fund. During her appearance, she had words of encouragement for the students.
“Keep going. Don't let nobody tell you what you can do because you can do it.”
At Megan's latest show in Atlanta this weekend, the Grammy-winning rapper revealed that a new album is on the way.
