Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler thanked former teammate Joel Embiid for dragging him into his feud with Karl-Anthony Towns after the two got into it on Wednesday night and were consequently ejected from the game.

The beef between the two centers was prolonged on social media, where Embiid tagged Butler in a post indirectly directed at Towns:

Jimmy Butler had previously “liked” a clip of the two big men getting into it, and it's likely he will soon be asked questions about this feud once the Heat finish their morning shootaround.

Butler was Towns' teammate for a year and change. Butler was traded at the start of the 2018-19 season after disputes with the organization and a lack of rapport with the young stars of the roster, Towns included.

The star forward also had his share of disagreements with Embiid, but the two seem to have remained close friends after Butler was shipped from Philadelphia to Miami in a sign-and-trade.

Embiid and Towns face a potential multi-game suspension for unsportsmanlike conduct, and Ben Simmons could be looking at one as well, despite remaining on the floor for the rest of the game after putting Towns in a chokehold during the fight.
