After being signed by the Grand Rapids Gold of the NBA G League, Isaiah Thomas made his debut for the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night. IT made quite an impact in his first game back, and it now looks like another one of LeBron James' former teammate — this one during his spell with the Miami Heat — is on his own comeback trail.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Heat icon Mario Chalmers is set to sign for the Gold, an affiliate team of the Denver Nuggets, ahead of the upcoming G League Showcase:
The last time we saw Chalmers play in the NBA was during the 2017-18 season with the Memphis Grizzlies. He's been out of the league for three years now, but the fact that the 6-foot-2 point guard has been able to secure a deal in the G League speaks volumes of his current fitness level. We all know that Chalmers can ball, but now it is clear that the 35-year-old is fit enough to take part in the G League.
For what it's worth, Isaiah Thomas was also signed by the Gold before the Lakers scooped him up. Chalmers is taking the exact same route here so could it be possible that he too gets a call from an NBA team in the near future?
