The Miami Heat have high expectations for their rookie Tyler Herro, the 13th overall pick in last Thursday's NBA Draft. Team president Pat Riley even said that the 6'5 guard has the potential to be an All-Star, and that speaks volumes about the franchise's confidence in him.

And for Tyler's father Chris, the Heat made the right choice of selecting his son. In an interview with The Athletic's Shandel Richardson, the Herro family patriarch said that Tyler is someone who's not afraid of anybody; he's confident on what he could do on the court, which is always an asset for a newcomer in the NBA.

“That’s what comes along with swag. I used to hoop like that, too. That’s what gets you going. That’s who you are. I told him to never back down. Believe that you are the best player on the floor no matter what. Of course, some people would think he’s a prick but there’s a difference between being a prick and confident.”

The Kentucky University standout averaged 14.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 37 games last NCAA season. Statistically, his numbers aren't shouting superstar potential, but for his father, Tyler can do a lot of things that are more than what the numbers suggest.

All he needs to do is prove it in the NBA.

Although no one is comparing Herro to anyone, he has big shoes to fill. The Heat just said goodbye to one of the greatest shooting guards of all-time in Dwyane Wade, who retired at the end of last season. The 19-year-old will not be able to replace D-Wade in the hearts of Heat fans, but if he lives up to his potential, he will be able to create his own legacy in Miami.
