Russell Westbrook has “liked” a picture on Instagram of him in a Miami Heat jersey.

The Heat and Westbrook have mutual interest in partnering up. The Oklahoma City Thunder are expected to trade Westbrook before the 2019-20 season starts. Westbrook is reportedly open to being traded by OKC, and it sounds like he wants to play for the Heat:

The Heat acquired four-time All-Star Jimmy Butler from the Philadelphia 76ers in a sign-and-trade deal. If Miami president Pat Riley is able to acquire Russell Westbrook next, the Heat would certainly become contenders in the Eastern Conference.

Westbrook has averaged a triple-double three seasons in a row. This past season with the Thunder, Russ put up 22.9 points, 11.1 rebounds and 10.7 assists per game. However, the eight-time All-Star shot only 42.8 percent from the field, 29.0 percent from beyond the arc and 65.6 percent from the free-throw line.

After the Thunder were eliminated by the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round of the 2019 playoffs, Westbrook had surgery on his left hand to repair a torn ligament in a finger. The star also had a minor procedure on his surgically repaired right knee.

The Heat want to acquire Westbrook, but they are going to be diligent in their trade talks with the Thunder.
