The Miami Heat are reportedly expected to again explore trading center Hassan Whiteside this summer once he opts into his 2019-20 player option, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Whiteside will make a whopping $27,093,019 next season. It's hard to envision the Heat big man declining that player option since he won't get that type of dollar amount on the open market.

As for Whiteside, he came to AmericanAirlines Arena to work out in recent days. Miami is expected to again explore trading him once he opts in.

The Heat tried to trade Whiteside last offseason, but couldn't find any suitors. With the emergence of Bam Adebayo, the Heat would prefer to move on from Whiteside and clear some cap space.

Hassan Whiteside averaged 12.3 points and 11.3 rebounds this season. He shot 57.1 percent from the field and recorded 36 double-doubles. Whiteside started 53 games and came off the bench 19 times. Miami was 33-39 when Whiteside was in the lineup.

The Heat have to clear cap space this offseason if they want to be players in the stacked free agent market. Whiteside, Dion Waiters and James Johnson all have lucrative contracts which president Pat Riley probably wants to move.

In the post-Dwyane Wade era, it's important for Miami to get under the luxury tax.
