With the Feb. 8 trade deadline looming, it appears that Miami Heat swingman Wayne Ellington has some suitors.

According to Ira Winderman of the Sun-Sentinal, some teams could be looking to make a move pick up the sharp-shooting Ellington.

“There has been outside interest, as the NBA continues to prioritize 3-point shooting. It could come down to whether the Heat believe Ellington's Early-Bird Rights will be enough to allow them to keep him in the offseason. Otherwise, he stands as one of the Heat's more attractive trade commodities.”

Ellington is shooting a scorching 41 percent from the 3-point line so far this season, per Basketball Reference. It's the second-best percentage of his career.

Every team could use an extra shooter, as there never can be enough shooting on an NBA roster these days. Ellington could provide that for a playoff team that wants to space the floor for its other star players.

But Winderman also thinks it's unlikely that the Heat will part ways with the knockdown shooter before Feb. 8. He feels that if the Heat can re-sign him for a good price, they will gladly hold on to him.

Ellington is on a one-year contract with the Heat right now, and it's worth $6.27 million. Ellington will be a free agent at the end of the year.

The Heat are fifth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 21-17. Ellington has been a good piece for them this season, and he's on a good contract. It would make sense if Miami chose to wait to see what the trade market is for him before it makes a deal.
