LaMelo Ball is showing his range and his composure against the Toronto Raptors. In the Charlotte Hornets' game against Toronto, Ball pulled up a few feet beyond the 3-point line and drained a long ball like it was nothing.

Ball has been playing well to start off his rookie year with the Hornets. The third overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, Ball, along with his brothers Lonzo and LiAngelo, have been in the limelight ever since their high school days due to their father, LaVar, building a brand around them. While it has given them more of a name recognition, it has also hurt the three, with many believing his name hurt LiAngelo in the draft, where he went undrafted in 2018 and has yet to make an NBA roster.

The Hornets are looking to get back over .500 after losing to the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night, which put them at 6-6. The Raptors have been struggling thus far this season, currently sitting at 2-8.

The 2020-2021 NBA season is just getting underway after being delayed due to the late finish to the 2019-2020 season following the stoppage and restart of the season due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The league and players originally disagreed on the start to the season, with the players favoring waiting to start until around Martin Luther King Jr Day, which would have started the season this week. The league's proposal, which won out, had the season starting shortly before Christmas. The league wanted to start the season early to get the ratings from the Christmas games, as well as to make sure the still planned Olympics did not interfere with the season for the Hornets and the rest of the league.

Charlotte is trying to make its way through a pandemic season along with other teams in rebuilding mode. LaMelo Ball is certainly giving the Hornets hope for the future. It's a long-term project to remake this organization into a winner, but Ball is providing a foundation in the Queen City.
