Charlotte Hornets new point guard Terry Rozier is going into the 2019-20 season with a mindset to kill, wanting to prove himself after being mostly shelved during his fourth season with the Boston Celtics. Rozier will be replacing longtime floor general Kemba Walker, as the two traded places in the offseason after the Hornets executed a sign-and-trade with the Celtics.

Though make no mistake, Rozier is not to be mistaken for a Walker-lite coming into The Queen City.

“I’m not Kemba. I’m not coming in here acting like I’m Kemba. I’m Terry,” Rozier told Rick Bonnell of The Charlotte Observer. “I respect the hell out of Kemba: When I play against him, I’m going to give him my best, and I know I’ll get his best. But Kemba? I don’t want to hear it. Don’t talk to me about Kemba.”

Talk of the town has been how the Hornets managed to let a player of Walker's caliber slip from their very hands after offering $61 million less than he could have made as an All-NBA name, yet Rozier comes into the 2019-20 season with a mindset to prove himself.

“I’m pissed off about a lot of stuff,” Rozier said“I want to prove myself again.”

Rozier has very few chances to prove his worth last season, mostly stuck behind Kyrie Irving — likely another name he's sick of hearing after a rousing 2017-18 postseason brought his name into the forefront. “Scary Terry” will get the chance to show his mettle with full-fledged starting minutes under a young coach in James Borrego, a full season that should put talks of two elite-caliber point guards in Walker and Irving well in the past.
