Reports have just indicated that Charlotte Hornets rookie LaMelo Ball has sustained a fractured right wrist and is expected to miss the remainder of the season. The 19-year-old suffered the injury during Charlotte's 125-98 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday, and below is the exact play where LaMelo fractured the wrist on his shooting hand.

Ball tried to break his fall with his hands after a hard drive to the basket and it ended in catastrophe (h/t ClutchPoints on Twitter):

Ball immediately grabbed his wrist when he fell, and it did look like he was in considerable pain. However, he shook it off and played through the pain. The injury happened in the second period, but the Hornets rookie was able to return to action after getting his wrist taped up. He was able to play for an extended period before checking out of the game early in the fourth quarter with Charlotte down big. Ball did not look comfortable throughout his time on the floor, though, and it is unclear if his decision to play through the pain caused further injury to his wrist.

This is an undeniably huge blow for the Hornets, who have been on the hunt for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Ball has played a key role for Charlotte this season, and it remains to be seen how the team will (try to) fill the void that he has left now that his season appears to be over.
