The Jacksonville Jaguars suffered a bad 34-31 overtime loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 13, but that wasn’t the worst loss of the night. The team lost wide receiver Christian Kirk for up to eight weeks or more, and superstar quarterback Trevor Lawrence went out with an injury, too. On Monday, Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson revealed the injury is a high ankle sprain but didn’t rule the QB out for the team’s huge Week 14 showdown with the Cleveland Browns.

“#Jaguars coach Doug Pederson says QB Trevor Lawrence has “just a right high-ankle sprain.” Everything looks stable and they'll see how he looks this week.” NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero initially reported.

Pelissero then added, “Asked if Trevor Lawrence has a legitimate shot to play Sunday vs. Cleveland, Pederson says he's not going to put a timetable on it and reiterates they'll see how he looks in a couple of days.”

The Jaguars came into Week 13 against the Bengals with their fate in their own hands as far as getting the No. 1 seed and the coveted first-round bye, in the AFC. That is no longer the case after the loss, but the team still has a chance if it continues to win games and get a little help.

In the Jaguars' Week 14 game against the Browns, whether Trevor Lawrence is out with his injury or not, now 8-4 Jacksonville needs a win to stay ahead of the 7-5 Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans in the AFC South. If Lawrence can't go, that game could feature CJ Beathard vs. Joe Flacco.
