The Jacksonville Jaguars officially announced the signing of quarterback Nick Foles on Wednesday, a move that was expected for quite some time.

However, now that Foles is definitely on board, the Jaguars can finally speak about what he will bring to the table, and head coach Doug Marrone is excited for the possibilities.

“When you make moves like that at the quarterback position, it gives the team a chance,” Marrone said, according to John Oesher of the Jaguars' official team website. “You have someone that has the experience, someone that has leadership, someone that really has proven to some extent that he has done it on the big stage and can handle all that. With all our research … that’s one thing that he always had done well — to be able to handle pressure and a full plate. That’s one I think Nick will be challenged with and a challenge that he’ll easily accept.”

Foles has a very strange career trajectory given that he does not have much of an established track record as a starting quarterback in the NFL, yet he has a Super Bowl run and MVP under his belt.

Marrone certainly likes Foles' apparent ability to stay cool under pressure.

“That’s the one thing that kept coming up when we did our research on Nick,” Marrone said. “A lot of the people I know who had been around him talked about how cool he was under pressure and how nothing seems to rattle him.”

Of course, anything is better than what Jacksonville had under center this past season.
