Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer faced some backlash for his recent comments where he said that vaccination status was taken into account when the team cut their roster down on Tuesday. The NFLPA has since opened an investigation into the matter because organizations aren't supposed to base roster decisions on whether a player is vaccinated or not.
Not long after, the Jaguars released a statement on the matter. Via James Palmer of The NFL Network:

While the team has said this, Meyer is after all the head coach and allowed to make his own decision as to who will be on his 53-man squad. It probably would've been a better idea for the Jaguars boss to not be so honest though, because now he's facing criticism.
However, most players across the league are vaccinated, with the exception of guys like Cole Beasley, who is completely against the whole idea of getting a shot in his arm. With the stern COVID-19 rules that are in place this season in the NFL, you can't blame Meyer for using this as a factor in his Jaguars roster decisions. The last thing Jacksonville would want is to have an unvaccinated player cause a Coronavirus breakout within the team.
