The Jacksonville Jaguars muscled out a 20-15 win on the road against the New York Giants, but it featured a key injury to star running back Leonard Fournette suffering a hamstring injury.

Despite that, Fournette told Josina Anderson of ESPN after the game that he plans on playing in Week 2 action against the New England Patriots in an AFC Championship game rematch.

This should erase any doubt that he should be ready to give it a go against the Patriots as he will be a major piece to the puzzle in Week 2 as the Jaguars run most of their offensive game plan through his production. He has proven to be a steady workhorse running back that can carry the team with his effectiveness running the ball. Fournette was well on his way against the Giants rushing for 41 yards on nine carries and also had three receptions for 14 receiving yards.

Backup T.J. Yeldon was able to step in to provide some solid production with 51 rushing yards on 14 attempts along with making three catches for receiving yards and a touchdown. Yeldon's ability to be a factor out of the backfield was key in helping quarterback Blake Bortles move the ball down the field when necessary while making key plays with both his arm and legs to keep his team ahead.

The Jaguars will continue to monitor this situation over the next several days as the team prepares for a huge matchup against New England that could be an early statement game for them. If Fournette plays, he will be a major part of the game plan as he has been the anchor of the offense since stepping into the league. However, if he can't give it a go, Jacksonville will likely turn to Yeldon to take up the spot start in their first home game of the year.
