The Jacksonville Jaguars are going to be without defensive tackle Marcell Dareus for the next four to six weeks as he recovers from a core muscle surgery, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.

Dareus is having the surgery performed in Philadelphia by Dr. William Meyers. According to Rapoport, the surgery is pretty straightforward and there is a high rate of recovery.

Dareus left the Jaguars game against the Cincinnati Bengals in third quarter with the abdominal injury. Before the injury, Dareus had a tackle and a pass deflection, and although the stats haven't flashed he has been a handful for offensive lines to deal with.

On Wednesday, Jaguars coach Doug Marrone gave an update on Dareus saying that he was in Philadelphia getting treatment and hoped to get him back soon. It's unclear if the Jaguars felt that surgery was the option that was going to be chosen, but missing Dareus for any amount of time is going to be a big loss for the defense.

Second-year player Taven Bryan is currently second on the depth chart behind Dareus and he should have a bigger role going forward. Rookie Dontavius Russell is also on the depth chart and he has proven quickly that he should have a big role in the next couple of years with the team.

This is going to be a chance for Russell to get more snaps and put some good play on tape. In each of the last two games Russell has had at least 28 snaps and that number should expand.
