The Jacksonville Jaguars are closing in on their new head coach, and as previous reports have already made abundantly clear, former Ohio State shot-caller Urban Meyer appears to truly be in the pole position to land the job.

As a matter of fact, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Jaguars are already in the final stages of bringing Meyer on board:

This comes as no surprise considering how Jacksonville has made it no secret that Meyer is their top choice for the job. There's a general feeling that they're just waiting for the 56-year-old to make his decision in saying to a position that is his for the taking.

Earlier reports have also expressed how Urban Meyer himself is extremely interested in the job. With a strong mutual interest in a place, it appears that it's only a matter of time before the Jaguars officially announce Meyer as their new head coach.

It is also worth noting that should Urban Meyer finally agree to terms with Jacksonville, the belief is that he's going to ask to keep interim general manager Trent Baalke on board.

For what it's worth, the Jaguars still have a number of candidates aside from Meyer. This only makes sense, as they wouldn't want to put all their eggs in one basket. They recently interviewed Tennessee Titans OC Arthur Smith, but perhaps like every other candidate, they all just serve as contingencies to Meyer at this point.
