Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew learned a lot from his benching experience, especially some of the little details he was missing while playing. Minshew took over for Nick Foles after he broke his collarbone in Week 1 and led the Jaguars to a 4-4 record.

When Foles was healthy he took back over the starting role but with his struggles, the Jaguars have decided to go back to Minshew.

One thing Minshew struggled with when he started was adjusting to different defensive schemes and it's something he is eager to show he has improved on.

“A lot of times when you’re playing, you have a million different things that you’re having to focus in on and you kind of lose some of the bigger stuff,″ Minshew said via Jacksonville.com. “I guess I should say some of the smaller stuff sometimes, but when you’re out of that role, you can kind of step back and see the little details, and it was a really good experience for me.”

Minshew showed a little bit of the improvements after Foles was benched in the last game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Minshew didn't come in until the second half but he still finished 16-27 throwing for 147 yards and a touchdown.

Minshew did admit that it was mixed emotions when he was announced the starter again because he is close with Foles.

“I was excited, obviously. I was hurting for Nick. I know every group of QBs says they are tied together. It’s true, we care about each other. Every drive out there, I was praying and hoping he would score. I know he’s doing the same for me, wanting nothing but the best. That’s all we want — win games.″

The Jaguars take on the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday and all eyes will be on Minshew to see the improvements he has made.
