Jake Paul and Dana White are steadily building a beef that could match any in sports. Paul, who has had a tumultuous path to being a professional athlete, called out White on Sunday over what he observed as unfair pay for UFC fighters.
Dana White is one of the most controversial men in all of sports. His running of the UFC has been a point of controversy since its inception. It is a violent, painful sport that doesn't pay like other combat sports like boxing.
Jake Paul focused on the pay of athletes in his post and the UFC's lack of transparency surrounding the issue of pay. White and the UFC have consistently been linked to pay issues, as athletes are not well compensated for the risk they put themselves in. This issue probably came to the spotlight after Chris Weidman's possible career-ending leg injury that he suffered in UFC 261.
On the other hand, boxers are some of the best-paid athletes in the world, and they have been since the days of Mike Tyson. They are well paid for every fight and their pay per view events are incredibly popular. The UFC has not quite matched this, as they are not particularly close actually. Jake Paul even mentioned that he got paid more than all but two UFC fighters for his last fight despite it being virtually a farce.
Khabib and Conor McGregor are the only UFC fighters to ever make more than Jake Paul did for his last fight, according to the YouTuber-turned-boxer.
Paul is an interesting athlete to say the least, and he has obviously decided the target of his latest sports beef. White and Paul represent two ends of the spectrum in sports, the owner and the competitor, and it will be intriguing to learn where the public falls.
