Man, Rudy Gobert just keeps on catching strays from the Timberwolves, huh. First, the Jazz center got roasted by Patrick Beverley for their peculiar game-plan against Karl-Anthony Towns. Now, another Wolves player has come out to publicly diss Gobert, and in a much more direct manner.
Anthony Edwards, the eccentric young star of the Timberwolves, did not hold back with his assessment of Rudy Gobert. Despite the Jazz center's reputation as the “Stifle Tower”, Edwards told everyone that he doesn't… really fear Gobert. Cue the shocked gasps from the crowd! (via Chris Hine)
“Anytime I go against [Kristaps] Porzingis, I don’t get no layups. I don’t get why we couldn’t finish on Rudy Gobert. He don’t put no fear in my heart. I don’t know why.”
Edwards is well-known for his candor on the mic, and that showed here with his brutally honest take on Rudy Gobert. It's a bold move, saying that the reigning Defensive Player of the Year and perennial All-Defense candidate “puts no fear” in your heart. It's an even bolder move when you realize that the T'Wolves lost by 32 points against Gobert and the Jazz.

Ant's comments about Rudy Gobert was just the latest in the long list of names criticizing Gobert's legitimacy as a DPOY candidate. Earlier in the night, Beverley had a subtler diss on the Jazz center, saying that:
“You got Rudy Gobert out there guarding [Jarred] Vanderbilt and talking about he’s the Defensive Player of the Year. Whatever.”
Don't think Gobert and the Jazz will be losing sleep over these comments though. The Jazz are now 17 – 7, while the Timberwolves sit at a measly 11 – 13 record.
